Continental introduces new ExpressDry Gear Dryer for firefighters

Oshkosh, Wis.—Continental Girbau Inc. recently introduced a new product for safely drying firefighter turnout gear and equipment – the Continental ExpressDry Gear Dryer. Engineered to safely and quickly dry firefighter personal protective equipment, including turnout gear, helmets, gloves, boots, face masks, and self-contained breathing apparatuses (SCBA), the dryer is designed to work in concert with a highly programmable Continental E-Series ExpressWash Washer.

“Continental’s new ExpressDry Gear Dryer works by blowing a large volume of air, at a controlled pressure, safely through personal protective equipment,” said Joel Jorgensen, Continental vice president of sales and customer services. National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) compliant, the dryer accommodates up to four or six turnout suits simultaneously, depending on the model. The dryer ensures firefighter gear is safely dried and returned to service in hours, rather than days.

When the dryer is combined with a Continental ExpressWash Washer, fire departments can feel secure knowing gear is being properly washed and dried, according to Jorgensen. “The ExpressWash Washer can be programmed according to NFPA guidelines to properly wash soiled turnout gear,” he said. “By properly washing gear, firefighters are better protected from fire contaminants and costly gear lasts longer. Using the ExpressDry Dryer, gear can then be properly and quickly dried – returning it to service sooner without fabric damage.”

Simple to use, the ExpressDry Gear Dryer utilizes a quiet but powerful 110-volt fan to push a large volume of air through the garment from the inside out. This high pressure flow ensures air effectively dries areas that are hard to reach without air loss–significantly decreasing dry time. Because the fan operates using ambient air, the dryer is more energy efficient than cabinet style dryers, which require heated air, and align with requirements set forth by gear manufacturers. Thus, by using the ExpressDry Gear Dryer, fire departments ensure gear manufacturers’ warranties are NOT voided.

Quick and easy to use, the ExpressDry Gear Dryer can simultaneously accommodate suits, along with helmets, gloves, boots and SCBAs. The dryer comes standard with a LED timer with automatic shut off, steel construction, casters for ease of movement, 12 component drying ports, removable blower and a noise reduction package. Boasting an operational life span of 87,000 hours, the dryer is NFPA compliant and backed by Continental’s 3-year manufacturer’s warranty.

Not only can the ExpressDry Gear Dryer be used to dry gear, as an added feature, the blower can be removed and attached to your pump’s water ports for quick drying – preventing damage from winter freeze ups.
